SEND THE SUMMER GIFT

Hi [recipient's name],

My name is [your name] and I would be proud if our workplace chose to support the approximately ten children born each year with the rare disease Friedreich's ataxia – two of them in Sweden. Tom (8) and Lev (5) are two of those children – born here in Sweden, in an ordinary family.

Their parents have started a gene therapy program and invested their own money to get it going. Private individuals have already contributed 1.3 million SEK. Now around 1.5 million is needed to take the next critical step: testing in cells (in vitro), followed by the production of AAV virus for preclinical animal studies.

To reach Proof of Concept (PoC), approximately 8 million SEK is required, divided across five phases – two of which are already completed or underway. About 1.5 million is now needed to proceed to phase three.

Time is short. Within a month, funding must be transferred to leading experts Dr. Steven Gray and Dr. Ryan Butler at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW), as well as Dr. Marek and Dr. Jill Napierala – two of the world’s foremost researchers in FA.

Every donated cent goes directly to the gene therapy program – nothing to salaries or administration.

By giving a summer gift, we help carry out Proof of Concept (PoC) – the crucial first evidence that the treatment works in lab environments or animal studies. It is the threshold of hope, the step required to move on to clinical trials and eventually a real treatment for these children.

Without additional funds, the program risks stalling. That means in practice that children like Tom, Lev, and thousands of others will be forced to wait years for a potential treatment.

Every contribution counts and directly impacts the fight against the disease.

Tom, Lev and all other affected children deserve to grow up with bodies that develop – not deteriorate. They shouldn’t have to dream of surviving – they should be dreaming of a future. We, together with other companies, have the power to make that dream a reality.

This summer, we can give the approximately 40,000 affected worldwide more hope for a better life.

💙 Thank you for helping us create hope for the children.
